The Ramah Day Camp Committee consists of a group of deeply committed
individuals who work year-round to ensure the success of the camp.
Committee members bring a range of expertise and tremendous enthusiasm
to the organization. They are eager to hear your feedback, answer
your questions, and assist you in any way possible, to guarantee an
absolutely wonderful summer experience for your child.
Lisa Rozenfeld Tenzer, Chairperson
Lisa spent most summers between 1968 and 1979 at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin,
as a camper, counselor and specialist, with the summer of 1974 in
Israel with the Ramah Seminar. Her husband Steven also spent several
summers at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin, in addition to attending the Ramah
Seminar in Israel. They have two children, both of whom attended the
Ramah Day Camp and Camp Ramah in Wisconsin. Lisa states, "The kids just love
camp, and it's great to see them form strong friendships with their camp friends.
My camp friends have become lifelong friends,
and I see this happening with my children. Most importantly, I see them learning
from Ramah the values which I learned, and incorporating these
values into their lives as I did." Lisa's areas of expertise
are in computer systems, consulting and analysis. Through the use
of these skills, she has helped to develop the office computer system,
database, brochures, manuals and various other materials for the day
camp, in addition to creating this website. Professionally, Lisa owns
a software development company specializing in database and website
developement. She is also a member of the Camp Ramah in Wisconsin
Committee and the Camp Ramah in Wisconsin Executive Committee, and
a past president of Lilah Hadassah of North Shore Chicago Chapter
Hadassah.
Marshall Brill
Marshall attended Camp Ramah in Wisconsin from 1969 to 1973 as a camper
and spent the summer of 1974 on the Ramah Israel Seminar. Marshall is
married to Karen Chausow, a Ramah alumna from 1972 and 1973. They have
two children, Stephanie and Alyssa who attend The Ramah Day Camp. Marshall
states, "The most important aspect of both The Day Camp and Ramah,
Wisconsin is the friendships that develop during the summer with others
who share common interests. This was true for both Karen and myself
and is now true with our daughters, who like to set up play dates with
their new friends from The Day Camp." Marshall works at Kraft Foods
as a Finance Manager in the Human Resources/Facilities organization.
He is also a member of the Camp Ramah in Wisconsin Committee and the
Camp Ramah in Wisconsin Executive Committee.
Mark Harris
Mark spent every summer from 1964 through 1977 at Camp Ramah in Wisconsin.
He was a camper for the first six years, a counselor for the next six
years -- running the water front for four years -- and he spent one
summer with the Ramah Seminar in Israel. This summer will be Mark's
son Alex's 6th summer at the day camp and Jacob's 3rd year at the day
camp. In addition, Alex will be spending half the summer at Camp Ramah
in Wisconsin in the youngest group, Garinim. Mark speaks frequently
at Sunday schools throughout the Chicagoland area as well as at Jewish
conventions focusing on youth. He is on the Executive Board as Vice
President for Membership at Moriah Congregation in Deerfield, a member
of the Board for the Midwest Region of United Synagogue and a past president
of the Indianapolis chapter of United Synagogue Youth. Mark is also
a member of the Camp Ramah In Wisconsin Committee. Mark's business,
Harris Development Group, LLC was founded in 1994 with a mission of
"creating a difference" by giving employees and organizations
a competitive advantage in the marketplace. He partners with clients
to develop a company's leadership, operational excellence and customer
focus. Mark received his undergraduate degree in Judaic Studies and
Political Science from Indiana University. He holds a Master's degree
in Clinical Social Work from the University of Wisconsin and earned
an MBA in Human Resource Management from Temple University.
Miriam Steinberg
Miriam has been an active part of the Ramah, Wisconsin community since
1959, her first year as a camper. During her seven years at the overnight
camp and Israel Seminar, she made lifelong friendships and even met
her future husband. Mort and Miriam have two children, Adam and Shira,
who have attended the overnight camp, and have continued their commitment
by returning as staff members. Miriam is a member of the Camp Ramah
in Wisconsin Committee of which Mort is a past president. A founding
member of The Ramah Day Camp Committee, Miriam is an attorney by profession.
Mort Steinberg
Mort served as the first president of The Ramah Day Camp, Inc. and is
currently the president of the National Ramah Commission. He is the
immediate past president of Camp Ramah in Wisconsin. He began his Ramah
career as a camper in 1955, participated in the first Ramah Israel Seminar
and was a bunk counselor and waterfront director at Ramah Wisconsin
for many summers. He is a member of the Board of Overseers of Albert
A. List College of the Jewish Theological Seminary and serves on the
Leadership Council for Conservative Judaism. He is also a member of
the Board of Trustees of the American Jewish Historical Society. In
2006, he was a delegate to the 35th Zionist Congress in Jerusalem and
is now a member of the board of directors of Mercaz, the Zionist party
of the Conservative movement. Mort is a partner in the Chicago office
of DLA Piper LLP, an international law firm.
Mark Weiner, FACHE
Since May 2004, Mark Weiner has provided leadership to Council for Jewish
Elderly (CJE) as President and CEO. CJE is a nationally recognized provider
of innovative community-based programming and senior housing serving
over 16,000 clients and families throughout the greater Chicago metropolitan
area. Over the last 3 years, Mark has developed a new administrative
structure, developed and implemented a new strategic plan and has caused
the development and enhancement of key operational activities. Current
attention is being directed to assessment and development of several
major program initiatives, refinement of Board and Committee structure
and activities and development of new CJE brand identity. Prior to joining
CJE, Mark was a Senior Consultant with Perkins Eastman, a national architectural,
planning and consulting firm and for six (6) years, Mark was Managing
Director with OWP/P Consultants responsible for the development and
management of strategic planning and consulting for the firm's senior
living, health care and housing markets. Earlier in his career, Mark
was a Vice President, Administration & Corporate Planning at Elmhurst
Memorial Hospital (IL). Mark speaks regularly at industry meetings on
elder care trends, organizational and program development and repositioning
and strategic planning. Prior activities included writing a monthly
column in Chicago Hospital News focusing on healthcare, senior living
trends and programming opportunities. Mark also contributes to the industry
as a Board Member, Association of Jewish Aging Services and Lecturer,
Graduate Program in Health Care Administration, University of Illinois
at Chicago. At present, Mark sits on the boards of Ramah Day Camp and
Magen David Adom. Mark is current Chairman of the Not for Profit Organizations
Trade Division of the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago. Mark
is a graduate of the Wexner Jewish Leadership Program. Mark holds a
Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with honors from the University
of Buffalo and a Master of Arts in Hospital Administration from University
of Michigan. Mark currently sits on the Dean's Advisory Council, School
of Arts and Sciences, University of Buffalo. Mark lives in Wilmette,
IL. with his wife Patty, daughter Samie and son Daniel.
